LA DEUDA DE CONSUMO de EE.UU. alcanza su más alto nivel en 10 años
FT. LAUDERDALE, Florida -- Los consumidores no fueron tímidos a la hora de gastar dinero esta pasada temporada de fiestas, según reveló un reciente informe de crédito al consumidor que destaca un aumento de casi el 10 por ciento en la deuda de consumo en general. Según la Reserva Federal, los préstamos al consumidor subieron en $20,400 millones en noviembre, llevando el total de la deuda del consumidor a $2,480 billones. Los expertos financieros de Consolidated Credit Counseling Services, Inc. aconsejan a los consumidores a reexaminar sus hábitos de gasto.

As part of the 2011 FIRST World Championship, each winning team would be invited to send a representative to the second annual White House Science Fair in the East Wing of the White House. NASA ASTRONAUT, Former Kepler Team Remembered
Feb. 07 - NASA astronaut Janice Voss passed away last night after a courageous battle with cancer. One of only six women who have flown in space five times, Voss’ career was highlighted by her work and dedication to scientific payloads and exploration. She was 55.
Voss spent the majority of her career at NASA in the astronaut program. However, from 2004 to 2007, Voss served as the science office director for the Kepler mission at NASA’s Ames Research Center at Moffett Field, Calif.

NASA Calls for New Commercial Crew Proposals
WASHINGTON -- As part of NASA's ongoing efforts to foster development of a U.S. commercial crew space transportation capability to and from low Earth orbit and the International Space Station, NASA has issued a call for industry to submit proposals for the Commercial Crew Integrated Capability Initiative.
It's expected that proposals will lead to Space Act Agreements that will help NASA and the U.S. achieve safe, reliable, and cost effective human access to space. NASA expects to make multiple awards this summer, with values ranging from $300 - $500 million.

PANJWA’I DISTRICT, Afghanistan – On the evening of Nov. 12, Sgt. Adam Lundy found himself in the ROLE 3 hospital at Kandahar Airfield. Just two hours prior, Lundy, an Alliance, Neb., native, was on patrol in the western side of Panjwa’i district, when his platoon struck several IEDs.
Suffering multiple shrapnel wounds, he was MEDEVACed to Role 3 medical facility for further assessment. In spite of having received shrapnel wounds to his face, arms and torso, he was listed in good condition and was able to walk unassisted.

US Department of Defense Announces Energy Potential Study
The Department of Defense (DoD) could generate 7000 megawatts (MW) of solar energy -- equivalent to the output of seven nuclear power plants -- on four military bases located in the California desert, according to a study released today by DoD’s Office of Installations and Environment. The year-long study, conducted by the consultancy ICF International, looked at seven military bases in California and two in Nevada. OBAMA SIGNS Defense Spending Bill Despite Reservations

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama signed the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act, while acknowledging "serious reservations" about parts of the act, particularly provisions that regulate the detention, interrogation, and prosecution of suspected terrorists.
"I have signed the act chiefly because it authorizes funding for the defense of the United States and its interests abroad, crucial services for service members and their families and vital national security programs that must be renewed," Obama said in a statement released today.
